Gospel/Neo-soul
vocalist, producer and songwriter Byrain “BlackCat” Winbush
has taken the East Coast by storm. Byrain, an established vocalist
who has performed with prominent artists such as Donna Summers,
Rev. John P. Kee, and the New Generation Singers, has played shows
from New England to Georgia using his smooth tenor voice to convey his
spirituality though passionate and inspirational ballads.
Originally from Durham, North Carolina, Byrain began singing at a very
young age and started writing songs at fourteen. Inspired by his role as
the music choir director of Grant AME Church in Boston, he uses the Spirit
in his music to create a remarkable and colorful sound teeming with power
and purpose. Modeling himself on the likes of Stevie Wonder, Prince and
Luther Vandross, his influences come across in his vocal style and in the
soulful nature of his songs.
Byrain is currently recording on Boston rapper Abenz’ debut album
singing catchy and incisive hooks that will stick with you long after hearing
them. Their new CD, This is How My Life Goes, is charged with Byrain’s
flawless harmonies and infectious melodies. Byrain “BlackCat” Winbush

neo-soul sound with his southern gospel background conveyed by a passionately
